But it does take them 10 years to do each time.

Yes, but the phrase 'It's like painting the Forth bridge' pertains to an activity that needs to start again as soon as it's finished.

Even if it takes 10 years that'll still give them a 15 year break... ;)

I find it hard to believe that any paint will last 25 years, given that the bridge is exposed to all the elements.

well its a modern myth , they don't start painting again as soon as its finished , if I'm right I don't think that's ever been done to the forth bridge. I was reading about this the other day , I'm pretty sure they couldn't find a single case of the bridge needing to be repainted as soon as they were finished.
