But isnt this kind of like the whole, boycott buying fuel for a day thing that went around a while ago.
ebay arn't really going to be that bothered, as not everyone will actually stop using it, and people will still want to buy and sell things the week after, so will do so more than usual to make up for the week they've missed out on.

I cannot see how this strike is going to work...

Let's face it, Power Sellers with 100%/99% reputation will surely not want to get involved - Any delay in delivering their products, will increase the chance someone will leave a negative feedback.

radical changes to policies for sellers

including (but probably not limited to -as I'm not an expert)...

...big hikes in final value fees if your item sells (though listing fees will be slightly less! - good if it doesn't sell but that's not the point of selling is it!)

...changes to feedback - from May they are proposing to only allow sellers to leave positive feedback for buyers - meaning all buyers will have 100% feedback (unless they get banned from the site for repeated non-payment) and increasing risk of feedback extortion / wrecking by buyers who can still leave negative and neutral against sellers. They also seem to be encouraging sellers to leave feedback as soon as the buyer has paid rather than waiting until the transaction is closed (ie the buyer pays, confirms receipt of goods and happy with purchase)

...forcing higher volume sellers to register as business accounts and forcing all business account holders to display business address on item page (in many cases the home address!) -not entirely at odds with this as it is to comply with law but sympathise with some of the complaints regarding this change

... also some issues for Powersellers discounts will be difficult to achieve with new feedback powers for buyers from May

... probably others but have to go make sure our dinner's not burning! lol

Ebay should also have a look at the practice of retaliatory feedback from sellers if you leave them a negative. I do not sell on ebay but i do buy and as far as i am concerned as soon as i pay with an instant payment method i should get my feedback as i have been as good a buyer as i can be. So many times i have not recieved feedback until i leave it and on a couple of occasions i have had messages warning me against leaving bad feedback as they will do the same. This sort of thing has allowed bad sellers to get away with it for far too long and i want to see a bit of fair play for buyer's.

Totally agree and from that point of view I can see e-bays motives. Pity sellers resorted to this "bribery", most sellers I have dealt with are loathe to give positive feedback as soon as I pay, how can complaining about bad goods/or service lead to buyers -ve feedback?

Anyway, I now boycott e-bay due to all the dodgey goods on sale, just wonder how many stolen goods are on there and e-bay do nothing!

Totally agree with you. I have sold a few things on ebay, but I am mainly a buyer and have always been annoyed with the fact sellers withhold their feedback on you until you have given it about them. As a buyer, my only duty to a seller is to pay after I have bid and won their auction. So, in my opinion they should be made to give me positive feedback if I have paid them through paypal and should not be allowed to list anything else for sale until they have left this feedback. That might make a few of them a bit more eager to leave good buyers the feedback they deserve.

I can't see the strike making the slightest bit of difference. eBay have made their minds up about the changes and the 20% who support, or even know about, the strike will make no difference to them.

eBay have introduced the changes to feedback because of sellers abusing the feedback system - the only way they will take notice is if buyers do the same after the changes, i.e. buyers start leaving negative feedback for minor points like being charged 10p extra on P&P.

...not that I would like to give anyone ideas though.
