Which ISP for New Flat
Hi all
I have been quite a happy Blueyonder and mostly happy VM Customer for ni on 10 years. We have a new flat to move into in about 4 weeks, but the new area doesn't support VM cable yet, but do offer a limited service through their analogue setup through a BT line. My Current setup are cable 20meg BB, TV L and Telewest phone line. What they can offer from what I read, are Internet up to 8meg and a very basic TV and phone package. All through the telephone line. Just wondering what are the pro's and cons of this and what are the alternatives. Like would the phone be out of commission when the Internet is on? I have no real need for 20meg these days, but upto 8-10 meg unlimited would be of advantage. I have no real knowledge of other service providers, so any info would be appreciated. I do online game a great deal. Downloading isn't such an issue. The new flat does though have a socket for Satellite TV. Just shows you, I have been so used to cable for so long I am well out of touch. Regards smee |

Re: Which ISP for New Flat
Well it all depends on were you are, how far you are from the exchange etc etc. all I surgest is looking around before making a choice. Whats important to you ? because some companys are great at one thing and rubbish at another etc etc. So look around. see what companys ahve a good service in the area for the type of things you want ( Gaming :) )

Re: Which ISP for New Flat
Thanks for the replies guys. Done a lot of calls today, to different TV/BB providers. I'll have to get BT line in anyway and looks like a £240 squid payback to vm to finish my contract.
Tv will be through Sky basic, as I found out the flat already has a dish shared between the 8 flats. It's pondering either pay VM 240 squid and go aky or Be or have VM ADSL for 12 months :( So torn between Be or sky for tinternet. Not bothered if it's 4 or 16meg as long as the gaming pings are low hahaha Many Thanks smee |

your best going to Virgin.net (VM ADSL) better than paying £240 for EDF's and £125 for BT line install all at the same time and go to sky as I was told by a few customers you can get them to pay the BT connection charge unless that was a sky sales rep lying to get a sale

Superbiatch, I will get back to BT on that one, as the new build has all the sockets already in place. Thanks for that bit of info :) It's such a shame as the next street does have full VM cable! it would have just been a 15 quid transfer charge then :( It's a pity VM sales where a bit offhand when i asked for some info and my unavoidable change in circumstances. |
