When Is The Virgin Brand Going To End

I am a great believer in the fact that Sir Richard is planning on helping Northern Rock, by helping to buy the company and renaming it Virgin Bank, yet l think he is biting off more than he can chew, buy creating health clinics, run by GPs as qouted in the Sunday Newspapers, in major towns, Virgin has a world wide reputation of good service to customers, good company benefits (apart from one certain company that l could mention), Sir Richard is a brilliant businessman, and everything he touches turns to gold, but l think he should leave the health centres to the professionals.:)

Why? If he delivers a good service and turns a profit he should go for it full whack

personally,i think hes bit off a bit more than he can chew with NTL/TW.the fact that he was ready for a private equity buy-out only a few months after the re-brand tells a story :(

And thats a different thread - You also seem to think he runs Virgin Media, or even has a major say in the running of the business

You sure about that, mate? He's had his fair share of turkeys, paid for out of the few that achieved take-off speed. He's a sharp operator and an opportunist, but don't let's lick his boots for the sake of it. As far as the Rock is concerned he's spotted that Gordon and Alistair are desperate for anyone to take it off their hands, so he can get a good deal there.

Also, most of his brands aren't owned or run by him, they pay him for the brand. The airline and train company are half-owned (by solid professional outfits Stagecoach and Singapore Airlines respectively), Virgin Radio and Virgin Music are nothing to do with him any more.

Hi Whistled, I don't know wether you knows this, but when Virgin Media was founded, who was at the forefront of all the ads for - Sir Richard, he might be just a shareholder to the company, but it still has the word VIRGIN in front of it.:)

I think they should call the bank "Northern Virgin" - it's a unique offering. ;)

Thanks for pointing that out - My position within the business keeps me pretty well informed..

Michael Winner made a pretty good front man for E-sure too and with all his cash he may have a lot of shares in HBOS but it doesnt mean he has a say in your policy renewal

Calm down dear its just a brand name!

Virgin has 1 representative on the board so has no more or less influence than the board had pre re-brand. Where he does have an interest and a degree of control is if we are in breach of the license agreement.

Re: When Is The Virgin Brand Going To End

Virgin is an excellent brand.

The good thing about the Virgin brand is no-one remembers the failures they only celebrate the successes.

Virgin Cola
Virgin Brides
Virgin Vie
Virgin Vision
Virgin Vodka
Virgin Wine
Virgin Jeans
Virgin Brides
Virgin Cosmetics
Virgin Cars
Virgin Money
Virgin Blue
V2

May not have all been absolute failures but certainly non-made any where near the returns expected and most are now no more.

but still we celebrate him, that's his genius.

Virgin Atlantic is held up on a pedestal by the British
Virgin Mobile wins awards every day
Virgin Rail is respected for being turned around
and I don't doubt that even Virgin Media will haul itself up out of the poo poo.

But don't think for one minute that it was Branson that turned it around. But he provides the vehicle, the brand.

ntl:telewest nobody gave a stuff about they were dirty words in customer service and quality.

But stick the Virgin brand over it and suddenly Sky got up and took notice suddenly they were a threat.
