Anyone know about Digisenders?

Friend seen an advert in the Telegraph (see below) - would allow him to watch his sky sports in another room...just what he could do with...trouble is the add says not suitable for Virgin/Pace/NTL cable users.
As he is with Virgin anyone know of similar kit that would be ok with Virgin?
Thanks

here's the add:-

Audio Digi Sender rrp £59.99
Watch Satellite, Freeview or Cable TV channels anywhere in your house
without wires!
If you have more than one television at home or work, you will know how
frustrating it is when you can't watch your favourite satellite or cable
channels in another room. Compact and discreet, the transmitter (measuring
65 x 110 x 22 mm) simply connects to your existing TV SCART cable and works
with satellite/cable/freeview, DVD or video. The matching receiver plugs
straight into the TV in the room where you want to watch - no wiring, no
complicated installation, no fuss AND you avoid the costs and hassle of a
second cable or satellite subscription. Transmits through walls and floors
to deliver superb picture quality and glorious hi-fi stereo. TV's require
SCART sockets. Not suitable for Virgin/Pace/NTL cable users.

Re: Anyone know about Digisenders?

Its to do with the relaying of the remote. The old Pace boxes use a non-standard remote system and so doesn't work. However, I have a Samsung box on ex-ntl, and it works fine the the bogest-standardest of digisenders.

If he has an old Pace box I think there is a way around it by buying a 3rd party IR blaster (sends the IR signals over wireless to the other room). I think it called Magic Eye.

Some Pace boxes are ok, others aren't. If he has a blue remote, it should be ok. Also all Samsung boxes and the V+ will be OK. Any other box would need a Red-Eye and a new remote.

However, £59.99 is far more than you need to pay. Try something like http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...%2Bsenders.htm

Re: Anyone know about Digisenders?

i tried the AEI digisender plug and go from argos using the same box as yours and i'm afriad it didn't work..picture broke up occasionally, but most annoying thing was a continual hissing sound coming through on the audio..apparently after i did a bit of searching on google, its the Scientific Atlanta box that theres a problem with and some pace boxes..also i found out that cordless dect phones and wireless routers and believe it or not, energy saving light bulbs affect digisenders quite bad..also after further research if you get [see link below]should be alright..although i've not treid it yet as they're not in stock at the moment..
i hasten to add that this is only my opinion,as i know others who have got normal digisenders and they work fine,so i guess its a case of try it and see..get one from argos or that one from maplin and if dont work at least you can just take it back mate..:)

Depends which model. The V+ will be OK; the 4000 and 4200 would need a Red-Eye and a new remote. Lots more info on the problem is available at http://www.redremote.co.uk

Alternatively one of these will work with the problem boxes, but costs a fair bit more.

Ah - a V+ :)

Yes, that will be OK with a cheap sender, as long as he has the output set to SCART, not HDMI or component.
