Should my xbox remember the time?

hi . First time poster long time reader :) .

I have noticed that my xbox 360 never keeps the time , and always just reverts back to the same time/date whenever i switch it on. Is this normal ? Do you need to use xboxlive for it to keep time ?. I always assumed it would keep the time ok .

I only noticed as i play marvel allaince and its a pain keeping track of savegames without having the proper date and time on there., so i have to manually enter the time on my xbox whenever i go to play this game .

The xbox should only lose settings, if unplugged for prolonged periods I would assume

the clock in the 360 does not keep time when its unplugged, its a Pain in the backside unless you have it connected to the internet in which case it will correct the clock during xbox live sign-in (a free silver account is sufficient)

Thanks for the replies . I'm very surprised they can't keep the time . Suppose at least it means mine isn't broke :)

thanks again.

Are you one of those people who insists on turning everything off at the wall? If you don't, the 'box will keep its date&time while in standby.

Well it still uses 2.5watts in standby, although i admit i rarely switch mine off at the wall.

ah . I don't usually turn anything off at the wall , but with my xbox i have to move it out the way when i finish using it each night (or face the wrath of the missus) , so i don't have a choice . Thanks for pointing that out though.

Im amazed it doesn't have a real-time-clock backup battery since it is basically a PC
