Frustration Being A Driver, With Buses & Cabs
I don't know about other forum members, but l get totally fed up to the back teeth, when your driving along the road, and bang a Bus pulls out of a bus stop, without indicating, and when you try and speak to them, the driver can't speak a word of English, l had one today, going the long the road and all of a sudden there is a bus, l could move, and do you think he would move, no he wouldn't, and then you have a black cab, turning round, knowing full well, he can't go anywhere, or when you are driving along the road, a bus toots, you to get out the way, so he can get into the bus lane, l know that in the highway code, it says, you must make way for buses, but to me, that code has gone out the window, with some bus drivers.:mad::mad:

Re: Frustration Being A Driver, With Buses & Cabs
As a bus user all I can say is that it works both ways, around here they are having to close bus stops and fill them in as buses are being trapped in them by drivers refusing to allow the bus to actually pull out of the stop. Drivers refuse to give way and continue to drive down the side of the buses so that they have no choice but to either sit and wait for as long as it takes for traffic to disapear or pull out aggressively.
Now we have the problem of busses having to pull up in the road to pick up passengers which causes traffic bottlenecks which then upsets the drivers whose behaviour actually caused the stops to be filled in to start with. Swings and roundabouts ;) |

a) they've pulled out in front of you, so you are behind them (if you are beside them, how could they pull out in front of you?) b) the bus window is usually shut (especially in winter) You said they couldn't speak a word of English - were they Polish? |

Hi KaySqurriel, l am glad that someone reads my threads ' I am not racist, but', should l say it again, to be honest l have given up on that:)
---------- Post added at 22:19 ---------- Previous post was at 22:08 ---------- Hi Foreverwar, thank you for your comment, l have actually, been beside a bus, with a foriegn driver, who has actually forced a car, in front of me, into the path of oncoming traffic, and then wedge me between his bus, and the crash barrier, cuasing £300.00 damage, to my car, and all they is 'what, why' and then they hare hastely pushed away by there manager, l have actually seen a bus, driven down the WRONG side of the road, to overtake traffic, to jump the lights, when l contacted TFL, all they said to me was, he must be a new driver. l have had a car written off by a bus, who went through a no entry sign. l know l keep saying foriegn driver, as the majority of bus drivers now, are from European countries, and l know that as l went for an interview to be a bus driver, and l was the only guy there with an English licence. |

a) that information was not supplied - we could only go on what you originally put
b) I have been tail-ended, side-swiped, and crashed into on different occasions by British drivers - funnily enough, I don't class all British drivers that way. b) my driving licence says "UK",not English c) it's foreign |
Re: Frustration Being A Driver, With Buses & Cabs
I doubt the bus forced the other car into on coming traffic, I thought people were meant to let buses pull out. However its normally the car drivers that continue to move forwards even though the bus is moving out and indicating.
Even this morning I saw this, bus pulled out and car driver was adamant that he was going to keep moving forward and actually had to swerve round the bus so he could get a few foot forward even though the traffic was stationary. Some people are just too rude these days and don't acknowledge road safety and rules. Most buses here even have stickers on the back saying please let me pull out!! |
Re: Frustration Being A Driver, With Buses & Cabs
I think that any driver that does not give way to a bus is an idiot with a death wish.

Also, you do realise that if a Bus hits your car, you can ask either the bus driver, or at the garage for a claim form? |

Re: Frustration Being A Driver, With Buses & Cabs
It was an English bus driver who hit the back of my motorbike while I sat at a red temporary traffic light, just before the sign that said "wait here when lights are red"
Apparently despite me being stationary, he thought I went through the red light (which would have meant heading straight into oncoming traffic!) |
