Green light for hybrid research

Regulators have given scientists the green light to create human-animal embryos for research. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority granted permission after a consultation showed the public were "at ease" with the idea.
This member of the public isn't that at ease about it..once you open this box it's going to be hard to keep the lid in place.I see a lot of trouble about this from the pro lifers.

Mmmm, wonder what they will make first, and wonder who / what they will have to kill first because it didn't work out quiet the way the thought.

Would have been funnier if I'd said 'bull's **** holes'.

Anyone remember Chimera? That's the way this will go if they're not careful.

Maybe in the distant future they'll be able to combine the DNA of some form of creature to that of John Prescott to creat something worthwhile :D

In secret laboratories all round the world, I bet there's been all kinds of nasty things going on.

Unless they make a 300ft tall iguana with a penchant for chewitts, I wouldn't worry to much about it.

There's already enough in the world to worry about, who knows they might just discover a cure for cancer, or divise a way to help transplant patients.

I doubt they are trying to make to new super species of cockroach that will bite off your head and suck out your insides like a milkshake.

"I tell you, squire, selectively breeding livestock to make them bigger and fatter will only lead to trouble. Tis against nature, so it is"

You sound disappointed.

You're going to be even unhappier at this: US team creates 2 cloned embryos

I think your reaction is a bit unfair though. Its very early days and its hard to grasp where the future and science will take us (like BBKing said). And as Pierre said, wether we allow it or not, it will happen elsewhere in the world. At least this way we stand a chance at having a hand on the rudder.
