Think my router is borked :( advise please
 

I have a linksys wrt54g it is about 3 years old , i thought my modem was dropping my connection but now my router just isn't working , can not connect wirelessly , can not connect if i plug into one of the ethernet ports , everything connects , i get an ip address but internet just doesn't work. If i take my router out of the network and just plug straight into the modem then the connection is fine (but whats the point in a laptop without wireless) . I have updated the firmware , reset the router , turned off all security , and still no change :( , any ideas ??

Is the Status page showing that it has received an IP address?

If not, but the connection works when you're plugged in directly, that would suggest a faulty router...

yep status page shows ip address , have reset the winsocks, but afterwards realised it can't be that becasue x-box live wont connect either wirelessly or wired . but that says DNS failed , but obviously live works when plugged straight into modem too :confused:

just to add , have also managed to connect to someone elses wireless :shocked:(some people have no idea dangers of unsecured network) just to check everthing working correctly on pc .

On the router status page, is it finding the WAN address from the modem?
