Belkin G 802.11g
I have just bought a Belkin G 802.11g.
I've set it up at home on my Virgin Broadband. Now my problem seems to be that i want the server computer to be my girlfriends iMac and i want to be able to use my laptop (pc) around the house. Can any one help me and let me know if this is possible to do or am i just banging my head against a brick wall because it doesnt seem to want to connect! I hope someone here can let me know Many thanks in advance |
Re: Belkin G 802.11g
Hi Pongo,
You can use either PC as the server, there is realy no need for a server at all. Plug it in using an ethernet cable to any PC, go to the setup page, activate the wireless, (it's off by default) then connect both PCs. Connect your modem to it, reboot everything and test. You can go back later and set wireless encryption (highly recommended). |
Re: Belkin G 802.11g
hello Bri,
thanks so much for getting back to me. the computer that needs to be plugged into the router i was calling the server (probably not the right word) but i was wondering if it should be ok for this to be an iMac and have my Pc Laptop connecting to it. should this be possible |
Re: Belkin G 802.11g
Yes there should be no problem with that.
The router is configured with a web browser, and Safari is as good as any. Just type http://192.168.2.1 in the address bar. If you have had the PC directly connected to the modem you may to check the box that says "clone" MAC address in the internet config page. |
