SKY ADSL Problems

Bit of help would be appreciated..

As the title suggests I have SKY ADSL and all was working fine upto this week..

For some I seem to be losing connection every 5 mins, the wireless reception is fine but when I try to load a new page, it just doesnt load. Sometimes it corrects itself, most of the time I click repair and it renews ok.

I havent connected via ethernet to see if I still have the prob as ive mispaced it but I was connected via ethernet at work on Monday and had no problems

Suggestions?

Find/buy an ethernet cable and check your router when it's wired to your PC, only then will you know if it's just the wireless setup or the actual ADSL connection!

Have you tried rebooting the modem/router? Can you check to see if there any other nearby wireless networks? Wireless TV senders and DECT phones can also interfere.
Also you will probably get more help from a site more dedicated to Sky issues. Try www.skyuser.co.uk

A reboot from the menu doesn't necessarily clear out all memories/registers etc within the modem. A complete power cycle (off and back on) is a better fix.

Certinaly worth a try.

I borrowed a dg834GT (non sky) off someone and that sometimes decided to pass all traffic very slowly unless you powercycled it.

Will also depend on what service tier you are on, there are currently issues with Connect. You need to use ethernet temporarily to check the connection stability to isolate if it is a wireless issue or a connection issue. Also you will need to check your SNR stats on the router when the connection is coming and going to see if it's line related.
If it's wireless then you may want to turn UPnP off in the router until the new firmware is released as it is buggy in the old V1 netgear sent out. If you are on a new V2 router (black or dark grey) then it shouldn't be an issue.
Also make sure windows is controlling the wireless device on the PC, some manufacturer control software misbehaves with the router.
