I left Virgin Media for Topup TV

Hi,

just a quick post incase anyone finds its useful!

After 'years' of random problems i got fedup with virgin and wanted a change.. I couldn't bring myself to directly fund Murdoch's empire so i went to freeview, the topup tv box £79.99

And i have to say, i've over the moon with it!

It does have some problems, such as small hard drive space if you subscribe to the topup tv, but they dont charge you a monthly charge to record, which is what i had to pay on Virginmedia, and i wouldn't go back until they done something about that!

If anyone else is thinking about saving some money, i would most definately do it, its a great deal, £79.00 160gig harddrive!

and for a extra £10 you get the prime content of other channels !

If you want a list of channels it downloads you can see on their website, i think it's going to be a serious contender for the premium tv market!

ALSO - im moving house shortly, does anyone know how easy it is, if possible at all to take my broadband account/email with me? I think they probaly do the best BB deal i reckon, or does anyone have any advice on this?

Glad all is going well.
just a couple of points to balance this..

This service (top up tv) is not avaiable in all areas.
To get the best from the service you will need a digital ariel approx £120.00

The box is now yours and if it fails you will need to purchase a second box and if that fails a third box etc etc.

Have you looked at the tel numbers to call for cust support or to top up ??..
If not please check as when you call them you will get a nice surprise on your next telco bill as they are not cheap.

The £10.00 / month only gives you a basic increase. Setanata sports £10.00 /month with £10 set up charge so for £20.00 / month you get loads less than XL package on VM.

When you move better make sure the service is available and the new house has digital ariel.

Moving the VM services ...Just call movers and they will advise..

Just for your info, V+ no longer has a monthly charge on XL package.

It’s not all doom and gloom Colin, if it breaks in the first 12 months he can use the warranty.

How do you figure this one out? We got a High-Gain "digital" aerial from eBay for about £20 and fitted it in the attic and receive ALL of the digital terrestrial channels at full quality with no problems? Depending on your signal environment, your 20 year old roof aerial might even do the job

Yep. My rooftop aerial which is quite old still picks up every digital channel, you only need to buy an expensive aerial if you are in a very poor signal area

As far as I am aware top up tv do not have a fleet of engineers so I guess its a RTB if the box fails. IF I am wrong here some one will put us right..
