[Browsing] Can't access some sites (wow, starcraft2)
Hey guys and girls.
I've used the search but could not find anything regarding my issues. I had serious problems with my 20MB service that were fixed after a maintenance. However since then I can not access (at least) these two websites: http://www.wow-europe.com http://eu.starcraft2.com Here are traceroutes (directly to the IPs which also don't work in the browser) eu.starcraft2.com Tracing route to 80-239-186-32.attens.net [80.239.186.32] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1 2 16 ms 7 ms 16 ms 10.122.196.1 3 8 ms 7 ms 18 ms brtn-t2cam1-a-ge912.inet.ntl.com [80.3.66.61] 4 8 ms 7 ms 10 ms brtn-t2core-a-ge-wan64.inet.ntl.com 195.182.178.157] 5 18 ms 8 ms 12 ms gfd-bb-a-so-700-0.inet.ntl.com [62.253.188.233] 6 9 ms 7 ms 11 ms gfd-bb-b-ge-000-0.inet.ntl.com [213.105.172.6] 7 10 ms 21 ms 12 ms bre-bb-a-so-010-0.inet.ntl.com [213.105.172.149] 8 11 ms 11 ms 11 ms bre-bb-b-ge-000-0.inet.ntl.com [213.105.174.226] 9 19 ms 9 ms 14 ms telc-ic-1-as0-0.inet.ntl.com [62.253.185.74] 10 11 ms 11 ms 12 ms ldn-b2-link.telia.net [213.248.100.97] 11 11 ms 15 ms 12 ms ldn-bb1-link.telia.net [80.91.252.9] 12 19 ms 20 ms 17 ms prs-bb1-link.telia.net [80.91.254.209] 13 22 ms 19 ms 28 ms prs-b1-link.telia.net [80.91.250.253] 14 19 ms 22 ms 22 ms prs-rosy-s50.telia.net [80.91.251.90] 15 * * * Request timed out. wow-europe.com Tracing route to 80-239-186-22.attens.net [80.239.186.22] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1 2 6 ms 20 ms 6 ms 10.122.196.1 3 6 ms 7 ms 7 ms brtn-t2cam1-b-ge912.inet.ntl.com [80.3.66.189] 4 11 ms 7 ms 10 ms brtn-t2core-b-ge-wan61.inet.ntl.com [195.182.174.33] 5 16 ms 11 ms 9 ms pop-bb-b-so-600-0.inet.ntl.com [62.253.188.237] 6 14 ms 13 ms 13 ms 212.43.162.193 7 12 ms 15 ms 22 ms bre-bb-b-so-100-0.inet.ntl.com [213.105.172.234] 8 13 ms 13 ms 12 ms telc-ic-1-as0-0.inet.ntl.com [62.253.185.74] 9 23 ms 13 ms 13 ms ldn-b2-link.telia.net [213.248.100.97] 10 52 ms 12 ms 11 ms ldn-bb2-link.telia.net [80.91.252.13] 11 28 ms 19 ms 20 ms prs-bb2-pos6-0-0.telia.net [213.248.65.114] 12 18 ms 22 ms 33 ms prs-b4-link.telia.net [213.248.65.226] 13 32 ms 23 ms 19 ms prs-rosy-s51.telia.net [80.91.251.94] 14 * * * Request timed out. Does anyone have the same problems or can somebody compare traceroutes with his? As these look pretty ok to me. I'm pretty ok with networking and stuff, but I seriously can't figure out what's wrong here. Thanks in advance! |

I installed TOR (http://www.torproject.org/) and with that I can access the sites. So I believe I can rule out a problem on my end? *Sigh* this is really weird.
@Hom3r: Sorry the link was wrong (fixed now), it should be http://eu.starcraft2.com Cheers |

I can get in to that site. Could be a blocked IP issue.

Re: [Browsing] Can't access some sites (wow, starcraft2)
Thanks for your suggestions.
I checked my firewall settings (even though I'd be scared if someone would've set up a IP block ,) ) and I can confirm that my router is not blocking any IPs. The problem also crops up on all machines in our house (grand total of 5) so I dare to rule out a setting issue (Windows Firewall is deactivated, no additional security programs running). Is it possible that Virgin blocks certain IPs? Looking at the number of WoW players though I'd expect a riot, so somehow I don't think Virgin'd do that. Either way I'll try contacting their support again (if I can find my way through the web-maze) even though I kinda know which standard response I'll get. If anyone has ony other suggestions or if I can provide you with more info, let me know! Thanks again! |

he meant that the server is blocking your IP address
