Archos 405 Wifi MP4 Player
 

I have just bought the above for a present for my neice but I can't seem to find a speaker dock for it...All the MP3 players seem to have them. Has anyone got one or can anyone tell me what speaker dock would fit. The Archos Website doesn't give anything either.

Are you referring to the DVR station Or something else? If it's just speakers you want then I think you are looking at a third party solution, if one exists.

Thanks for the replies...actually looking at what I have bought..it is the Archos 605 wifi with 40g. not as stated above. This was the one my neice asked for...but looking at others there always seems to be speaker docks for them. She didn't mention this to me...maybe she doesn't know there isn't one....But it does look very good..although it wasn't cheap....I have also heard that battery life can be a problem.

Any thoughts on this....?

I woudln't say that battery life is a major problem with the Archos, it would probably do a movie and a bit, but it's certainly not infinite. If someone is in the habit of taking long plane journeys then a second battery might be a good idea, unless there is a means of in flight charging.

I was able to get a long life battery for my Archos Gmini 540. That's great as it's claimed to give around 13 hours video play life off one charge. It did however vastly bulk up the size and weight of the unit, whcih was barely pokcet sized in the first place.

Have a :google: for Archos accessories. There are quite a few suppliers out there of third part add ons. I've bought stuff in the past from newmp3technology.com and found their range quite good.

Archos 605 Battery life is around 5.5 hours for video and 17 hours for audio, is pretty good for a device with a screen this large too. (off trustedreviews.com)

My AV380 (80GB Archos) has an INTERNAL Battery. now after 2-3 years its DEAD. It holds NO Charge (not a problem for me as I use it Powered all the time), but it is a big issue for others. You have to buy a spare battery & open the Archos (as its Internal Battery) this can VOID the Warranty as your opening the Case.

I'm not sure if the 605 is Sealed or if it has a slot to slide in a Battery (like Mobile Phones)

Thankyou for replying....I am sure it will be liked by my neice..and I have noted all your comments and thoughts on accessories and battery life etc. Not sure about the casing etc. as it is boxed up and I am not opening it at all.!! As she is putting a lot of photos on she wanted a large screen..and it seems to have that....so hope it will be o.k. !!

I have a padded bag for the AV380 (you could use any Camera Bag as they normally have removable inner bits.)
