Help with wireless Setup

I currently run a Wireless network from my NTL/Virgin STB to a main PC off which the router then feeds other PCs in the house ...... works fine.

A friend of mine has recently decided to go wireless but he wants to know if he can simply attach the router local to his STB and feed his only PC in the next room. Basically, his main reason for wanting wireless is that he believes he won't need cable running from his STB, through the house, to his only PC.

I should know the answer to this, but I don't ...... can he do this or does his PC have to be cabled to the STB ?

Re: Help with wireless Setup

Yes, but ...
Two possible problems -
Most wireless routers need a cabled connection to setup the wireless ! Once it's configured, you don't need the cable.
Not sure if it's still the case, but with an STB you used to have to register each new device. (may not be neccy now)
So, yes he can have a wireless router with single PC, but might need to move the PC into the lounge to set it up (or plug in a friends laptop.
