VM alias ....please help.
I have been reading the posts on the Newsgroup:-Virginmedia.support.broadband.cable. as it seems a good way of getting help with BB issues.
Can someone take pity on me and throw some light on the alias e-mail address that the Virgin Media Technical Support ask for before they can sort out a problem. Quote:
https://selfcare.blueyonder.co.uk/IIPSCVM/index.do I have been googling and understand the basics about alias names but if I were to need one for the Virgin newsgroups would I have to get one based on my current ntlworld account or would any alias do as long as it was linked to my ntlworld account? My brain is starting to implode. Am I even making sense? Any help will be appreciated. |
Re: VM alias ....please help.
I believe your "alias" if you're exNTL would be your.name (the bit before your primary @ntlworld email address)

Re: VM alias ....please help.
Sorry, I think I am having a thick moment. If my email add. was jo.bloggs@ntlworld are you saying that my alias would be jo@ntlworld?

jo.bloggs

Re: VM alias ....please help.
You don't have or have the option to have an alias Jo.
For Blueyonder (ex-telewest) you have mailboxes. jb12k4567 would be your first mailbox/internet user name. jb12k4567 is also the primary e-mail address, now because this is difficult to remember and a bit of a mouthful to give out to anyone. You can add an alias to that mailbox, so you could give it the alias jo.bloggs. So mails sent to jo.bloggs would go to the mailbox jb12k4567. Hope this helps. I'm guessing you are ex-ntl? So you have no need to make a alias. You can just make more e-mail address. This link should take you to the right place :) |
Re: VM alias ....please help.
Thank you kind sir.
I actually asked about doing that in my original post then deleted the paragraph as it seemed to be too simple a solution. I have, in the past, opened another such address which I used for insurance estimates and then cancelled when it attracted unwanted mail. Just goes to show, sometimes it's possible come to the right answer by sheer fluke, but, without any real depth of knowledge, not know you've done it. :D |
