wireless router recomendation for Xbox Live

Hi all

Decided it's time to get a wireless router as the missus has a wireless laptop, ipod touch is wireless and the Wii is too. Currently have an old D-link di 604 wired router which has served me very well for a number of years. Never had a single issue on xbox live with it. Did try a D-link di 624 but it just didn't seem to get along with xbox live so gave it away.

So I need a little advice on which router to get...It must definately be xbox live compatible (wired only for games), and would be nice if it had some sort of log to show how much traffic had passed through it. Currently using netmeter on this pc but would be great if the router itself kept track of all connections...

Any help much appreciated..

Moved to Networking.

The Linksys WRT54GL comes highly recommended by many people here.

I used to use an older version of it, back when I had cable.

No problems with XBL.

Dunno about logs for how much traffic has passed through it though.

DLink DGL4300 here: excellent router if you can get hold of one. I too had a DI624 and found that it wasn't too clever under load and started introducing a lot of lag. Imho try and steer clear of Netgears and Belkins.

If you need to monitor your bandwidth usage from a Windows PC try the free version of PRTG:
