remote power plugs

http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...&doy=11m11#faq

Anyone used these before... I turn most of the Electrical stuff in the bedroom off when I goto bed, (perceptually as the i find the noise from the DVR annoying) (only things I leave on is the alarm clock and the dect base, oh and sometimes a battery charger if i'm using it.)

Was thinking of getting some of these so I can

A) save myself reaching for the power socket (its behind my server machine with a chest of draws next to it)

B) If I decide I want to watch tv in bed I can easily zap everything off when i'm done, like wise If i wake in the morning and decide I want to watch tv I can do the opposite.

c) I'm just lazy :p:

I don't use any, but they sound like a good idea. Do your bit for the environment, reduce your carbon footprint etc. :p: :)

I bought that set of four and very useful they are. The sockets in the flat are hidden behind furniture so they are used to turn the computer and TV/set top box on and off. I have another controlling the power for the wireless router/cable modem, this means I can be typing this on the laptop in bed and when I've finished for the night I can shut down the system without getting out of bed. :D

My dad uses them for his lights in the front room so he can hide the switches out of view. He also uses them for the lights on the xmas tree which is a great idea.

I have a remote control light switch, which is dimmable

The only downside is that sometime it turns on/off my Virgin STB
