Ubuntu video > dvd convertor

What's the linux equivilent of programs like convert X to dvd which took pretty much any video file and made a DVD out of it.

Ideally just looking for a few clicks and done type program rather than one with 1000 options that I have no idea what most of them do type app ;)

Hi
In the past I have used a program called 'DeVeDe', it's in the Ubuntu repos.
But there may be a problem with it now, look at the DeVeDe website for details.
I haven't used it for a while so I don't know for sure.

These days I use 'tovid' but it's CLI. There is a GUI but I've never used it.
This is the website for DeVeDe:-http://www.rastersoft.com/programas/devede.html
This is the link for tovid:-http://tovid.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Devede is a great little app and does indeed work fine again.....it was an easy fix either way;)

I`m just glad my TVout works again so i dont have to do all that encoding lark again.....what a pain.Devedes fine though

GUI`s eh......they dont come much more straightforward:D

EDIT:The DIVX is a recent addition in fact and i did have problems with that myself the couple of times i tried it recently.
Just choosing Video DVD and using the mpeg option in the next window always works fine for me though....on my dvd players
So did the ISO option mind you but you cant put multiple iso`s on a disk it seems....not with that anyway.

Still though.....TVouts the way;)

Hi
My DeVeDe menu hasn't got the DIVX/MPEG-4 option on it. Maybe yours is a later version (I'm still using Feisty).

I started using the tovid apps to help me get my head round what was going on. I'm not clever. So I've got it down to just a few commands (that I read from a piece of paper).
I got as far as making a menu. It's not much to look at but I was dead chuffed because I had understood what I was doing.

Off topic. My project for tonight has been figuring out how to record 'listen again' BBC radio programmes. It's took me all night googling but I've got it done.

"Not clever".......lol
I ended up with devede purely because tovid was just a bit much at the time. What does that say about me:dunce:

Avidemux is another one but i just ended up using devede because it got the job done without having to know too much about dvd encoding at that particular time. Not that i know too much more now mind you.
I can make my iso`s in the terminal with one command(no added software) but i try and avoid having to encode stuff.I treat it much the same as i do downloading if i have to do it at all.....
It gets done overnight....when i`m sleeping:sleep:

No dreaded encoding for now though, till the next time i make a mess of the TVout anyway.:erm:
I might to try MythTv soon so i`ll probably manage it then.

I don't know if this is any good, but I saw it mentioned recently, & if you're planning on having 1 machine specifically for Myth, you may find this interesting:
