hacked router! help
hi im new to the forum and wireless routers, iv just bougth 1 and was waiting for my friends to give me their mac address to make it secure. but the next day the internet would not load up although it sed i was conected to the router with full conection, it says limited or no conectivity and the name of the router has bin changed by sum1 (will and cathy have hacked u bitch, haha) the cheek of them!!!!
i have tried to reset the rounter by pushing the reset button on the back, but it dunt seem to do anything and the address 192.168.1.1 wont load up. does any1 have any ideas what i can do, i can afford a new 1 or to get someone out to fix it. thanks |

what router?
you should be able to do a master reset to wipe all passwords and settings back to default. usually involves holding the reset switch in for a while and maybe power cycling the router as you do it. you will need to check your manual for the proper method though. As for Will and Cathy, find out who they are and report them to the police. Silly little immature prats! |

Giving the make and model of the router will help ;) Also a reset by holding the reset button in for a set amount of time while powering the router up normally takes it to factory settings again.

Hold the reset button for about 10 seconds, might do a factory reset (depends on the router). Otherwise, connect with a cable...
Also, MAC filtering is not secure. Not even slightly... Use WPA2 or WPA encryption if you can, WEP if your hardware doesn't support those. |

And change the password for logging into the router as soon as you get access to it.

ermmm the routers model is RG60SE (micro star international) i dont no if thats right! but hope it helps, ill try what you's have posted.
