:welcome:

Have you got the router set to act as the DHCP server & obtain an IP automatically, it sounds like you aren't getting your IP lease set up properly?

You've only got one PC connected, via Ethernet cable, but you're saying you're connecting wirelessly as well? Both connections drop?

Have you got the modem connected to the WAN port & the PC connected to one of the LAN ports?

How are you determining that the modem-router connection & the PC-router connection are both dropping?

well all the lights stay on the modem as they are normal... then both the internet on my PC & wireless connection to my laptop just go off :|.. and yes i have the wires in correct place.

Have you got one of the notorious overheating Netgears? Which model is it?

Re: router problems

If you're not using the router during the night when you're in bed (assuming you're not a vampire ;) ) try switching it off until it's needed then see how long it takes before it starts losing connection after you switch it on again and if the unit or power supply feels particularly hot.

Are you doing torrents? could also be that your router doesn't like shifting lots of data across lots of connections.
