Internal combustion engine...

Internal to the Internal Combustion Engine, a miniature heat & pressure sensitive camera has produced amazing pictures...

OK, the video only shows two of the four strokes but it is impressive.

I just can't make out if one of the comments is an attempt at devastating wit or reflects incredible stupidity:

It just keeps doing the same thing, over and over and over...

It is different to see, nothing amazing though.

I do like this quote:-

Now if they could just show the inner workings of a female brain.
btw, it shows three of the four strokes ;)

Re: Internal combustion engine...

I have seen this before somewhere and actually it got quite badly flamed (no pun intendid) since it was shown to actually be several engine cycles shot at a more regular speed and made to look like one cycle. I believe the main picking point was the motion of the valves appeared to spin significantly somthing which shouldnt happen in a normal engine.

In the video the engine cycle takes up 20 seconds of video, assuming they changed the frame rate to 25fps thats roughly 500 frames per cycle.

Which if captured at '1000fps' as they claim would mean its half a second per cycle (2 crank rotations) which mean 4 rotations per second -> 240rpm.

some of the lowest idleing automotive engines run at least 500rpm! more common is 600-900rpm
