Networking Problems
Hi, I have a PC, a laptop and an Xbox 360.
My problem is that I can only have two of them online at once, but I would like to get all of them online. I have Virgin Media broadband going through a "D-Link DES 1005SD 10/100Fast Ethernet Switch" which is connected to my PC, laptop and Xbox 360. Currently I have to reset my equipment (modem etc) to use the one that isnt online, but then another one is stuck offline. How can I get them all online and working properly at once? |
Re: Networking Problems
have they all got wireless card or adaptors?

Re: Networking Problems
It's a wired-only router/switch.
All devices can go on-line OK, but not at the same time. |
Re: Networking Problems
I think only one device can go online as the modem can only supply one ip not sure cos i got my xbox and pc set up wired on a netowrk and can use both

Re: Networking Problems
You need a router to sit next to your modem. What you have at the moment is an unmanaged switch.
Have a look at the Linksys WRT54G. If you have any more questions ask away and someone will help! |

Re: Networking Problems
OK, I need a router.
I'm not really interested in wireless so what wired-only router would you recommend, and, do all wireless routers have ports for a wired connection? Thanks. |
