virgin media email attachment size?
why is it that since virgin media took over telewest i can no longer send files of any significant size (eg 2MB +) as email attachments? the server simply disconnects part of the way through the upload. are virgin capping upload sizes, and if so where do they advertise this fact to their customers?
to say i am disappointed at this development would be an understatement, but their online support have failed to respond to 2 queries on the subject, and their telephone support played dumb and told me to reinstall my email client - which i know for a fact is not at fault. i might add that i think it is shameful for virgin to start charging for support for products which we, the customers, pay for and expect to work. blueyonder support was both free and excellent. |
Re: virgin media email attachment size?
Try the newsgroup for free support:
virginmedia.support.broadband.cable virginmedia.support.email etc. See www.virginmedia.com for info on newsgroups (its under help). Anyway, that is strange, I never had that issue... |
Re: virgin media email attachment size?
1. VirginMedia did not take over!
2. Have you tried using webmail to send? Did it work, if yes, then take a look at your e-mail client and/or security software. |
Re: virgin media email attachment size?
thanks for your suggestions. no, i can't persuade webmail to send large attachments either for some reason. i'd already tried that. eventually the browser (firefox) just stops responding. i've no idea why this has started happening ever since blueyonder became vm. it's exactly the same on my other computer via a wireless connection. i'll check the newsgroups as suggested.

Re: virgin media email attachment size?
I queried maximum attachment sizes and it was confirmed by NTL (as they were at the time) as 5Mb total message size (message plus attachment). I'd be surprised if that's changed - it's still the same SMTP server(s).
