I have set this thing up on a second pc but it will not read the ip address of the router. Any idea's

I disabled the firewall but still the same

Is wireless active on your router?

Try checking if there is a firewall active on your computer that is blocking it? Did the installation CD wizards run correctly, or wher did they fall over?

If there is a firewall you can try disbling it temporarily. If that enables the connection, you know where to start loolking for a permanent solution.
