WAN to LAN router results (for 20mb customers)
I've been reading some posts to get an idea as to why my downloads via Virgin 20mb were not as expected. Like others I have found that my current router can not handle the data throughput.
I know there is the following table... http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/compo...rt/Itemid,189/ but I decided to do some tests myself. I will add more (and others can too ofc.) when I get my hands on more routers... Modem = NTL 250. ISP = Virgin 20mb Connection to router = Ethernet Using the SG speedtest server host-easy.co.uk link from http://www.speedguide.net/speedtest/ 1. Cable modem to PC direct link (no router)= https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...t=i8lpjaf2ijyl 2. My current router (Belkin F5D5231-4) Firewall enabled= https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...t=rbrv8wajakhj 3. My current router (Belkin F5D5231-4) Firewall disabled= https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...t=jzfoabcbxhp8 4. A borrowed NETGEAR WNR834B= https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...t=x09k05cmdtu5 I have ordered a refurbished Netgear WGT624 so will add that. If this does not allow the required throughput I shall either buy the D-LINK DIR-655 or a NETGEAR WNR834B seeing as I've already proven this to give enough WAN to LAN throughput. |

Thanks, I call for sticky/put in Articles!
I would submit my results, but I have no need for that fast speed :P |
