Can not charge new Ipod classic via PC
Hi all
I am having problems charging my Ipod classic via my PC. When I connect with the USB2 cable the screen displays Connected Eject before Disconnecting Top right appears to be charging but screen does not show the battery charging across the full screen as page 14 of manual. I left it like this last night and the battery did not charge. I have tried all the USB connections on my PC but it’s the same with all of them. Getting pretty depressed about the whole thing. New IPod which I can not charge ! Any ideas would be great Kind regards Mike |

PC is at work and Itunes is not installed as I just want to charge it, could that be the problems ??? Mike |
Re: Can not charge new Ipod classic via PC
Maybe, it might need to have a driver for the iPod. Which is in iTunes.

Re: Can not charge new Ipod classic via PC
It is possible it needs itunes installed. When i was at Motorola we couldn't charge the phones via usb without the correct software installed.

Re: Can not charge new Ipod classic via PC
All that happens if I plug my ipod into a pc without itunes is that a)it shows up as a hdd and b)it charges it up.
Sounds pretty dodgy if it isn't charging up :( The only thing of note I'd say is make sure you are trying to charge it with a usb2 socket. It /should/ work with a usb1 but hey this is the wonderful world of pc's :) |

Re: Can not charge new Ipod classic via PC
Use the same cable/ipod on different machines... I had something similar happen this week - thought it were my pc voltages but turned out to be usb cable dispite having used the cable successfully before.
