it sounds great - but would you trust your data to untried technology??

Well, hopefully by 2009/2011 somebody will have tried it... ;)

Would you trust your data to an Hitachi drive? Click of death free with every drive.

To be honest, they're pretty good these days - and click of death was a term relating to Zip drives :)

Giant magnetoresistance - two guys (a Frenchman and a German) were just awarded the Nobel prize for discovering this. Talk about cutting edge technology!

In any case - I don't think I'd trust that amount of data on any drive.

Not unless you can afford a pair and mirror them.

I had 4 of the IBM drives, you were just waiting for the click of death and you didn't have to wait long. I didn't know at the time they were made by Hitachi otherwise I would never have bought them, I'd had too many bad experiences with their other consumer electronics previously.
