Well, I am a Be* customer. They are very good at communicating with customers. Essentially, everytime they do something that may affect my account, I get both a text and an email. I have heard nothing about this.

So, until I find another source for this info, I am treating it as a rumour.

Well, about 2 minutes after I posted above, I got the following in an email from bememberservices (although oddly, it had no images).

Be unlimited Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£18 per month

Be unlimited is one of the fastest broadband products available in the UK. Before today the price was Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£24 per month for the up to 24 Mbps downstream and up to 1.3 upstream speeds, but we have now reduced it to Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£18 per month. Be unlimited is also a completely uncapped service so members can surf as much as they like and members also have the option of either dynamic or static IP address at no extra cost.

Be pro Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£22 per month

Be pro has come down in price from Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£40 a month to just Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£22. Designed for SME’s and power users, Be pro offers the fastest upstream and downstream speeds in the UK. Using Upload Plus Be pro members have access to up to 2.5 meg upstream using the Annex M as standard.

Reduction in the Express Cancellation Charge

In line with these price changes we have reduced the cost of an Express Cancellation for Be unlimited and Be pro members to Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£40.

When will these prices come into effect?

All new members will be able to buy Be unlimited and Be pro for the new prices from today.

All existing members will see the new pricing on their December invoice with a refund to cover the period from 10th October to 30th November.

Members can upgrade to Be unlimited or Be pro at no cost. To upgrade, login to your member centre and open a ticket requesting your upgrade.

NB: The www.bethere.co.uk website will be updated from tomorrow with the new price changes.

All well and good, but seeing as Be* have only got a top speed of 1.5Mbps "ish" in my area, I think I'll pass.

Well I'm 700m from my exchange have been teetering for a while. This news, Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£40.00 down to Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£22.00 for BE Pro, has tipped me over the edge.

All weekend my Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£37.00pm "20meg" VM conn has been struggling to PEAK at 9meg, no matter what time it is and how many connections I have open. I tried to look at a Youtube vid from a link I was sent, experience with VM has taught me to open them in a new window :) but even so I kept checking back and it was minutes before the page opened and further minutes while the vid buffered. Pah!! Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£37.00pm for that kinda carp, STM and premium rate So-called support.............

[Insert the F-word] it!! I'm off to BE if my ancient BT copper will allow it.

I've been over 10 years with Cable in all it's various incarnations and it's taken a rebrand to Virgin Mediocre to drive me away. Not only are they just too carp but they are now diabolically overpriced, to say nothing about rediculously low upload speeds. Not that I am unduly bothered about that as I don't make web-sites or use Torrents very often.

Also, a little tip. If you go through Quidco, which is a cashback scheme, you get Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£45 cashback as well from Bethere, making connection fee irrelevant AND you get Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£21 spare.
