Upscaling DVD players

The ones that supposedly upscale normal DVDs to 720 or 1080.

Worth it? Best ones? Do you own one?

I think they are definately needed if you have a HD 720p or higher TV as I have noticed you see the compression of normal DVD's on a high def TV at times.

Dunno, my HD telly with a 480p signal from the DVD player looks great.

Most modern HD TV's have scaling built in. My Phillips SD DVD to my HDTV looks just as good as 720p\1080i content. JMO tho.

I just use my 360... I dont have the HD-DVD drive, cause I just assumed my Samsung screen upscales my dvds a little anyway.

Thanks for the replies people. My new TV should be here tomorrow so will have to see what DVDs look like on it. It's a cheapo TV but rumours on some other forums say it has a samsung panel.
