Currys price pledge

 Can anyone explain Currys price pledge?
I got a list of prices for some models I'm interested in from pricerunner and went to local Currys store. Can you match that! "Don't have to, these prices are from exclusive internet sites. We will match a lower price only from a company that has an actual "high street" store". Does anyone have any experience of this.
Cheers.

I think you've answered it all yourself.

Less overheads from the net, so cheaper prices basically. Stores can't match that. Only fair.

However, check Currys website - it is often much cheaper than the store, but you can order it online, and pick it up (at the on-line price) from the store.

I did that for my mother-in-law's Sony LCD TV last year - £750 in the store, £611 on-line. Result.

There is a long running thread, over at avforums about price matching. You should pick up some good tips and advice from there. Many people have successfully price matched with John Lewis stores.

Not surprisingly you can price match with John Lewis as they are on the list of price match stores.

If you want to price match with PC World I think the policy is still that they will price match against any of the top 5 hitwise IT retailers (normally amazon,
ebuyer, etc) for instore prices only. The price they are matching must include delivery costs.

All DSG stores do this - PC World for instance - order online and Collect@Store - but sometimes if they sell out of an item quick then you may miss it because it's physically picked by a store member and held in in collect@store area...

I remembder once when my mum and dad where looking for a new TV and went in to Dixons (FYI Dixons, Currys & PC World all belong to DSG)

They asked the sales guy in dixons if there price match was still valid, they said yes, my dad pointed to a TV and said that he'd seen that TV for nearly £100 cheaper, thay are where, my dad said your shop window.

In the end my dad got a TV with £100 discount, and the window price was changed ASAP

I held currys to the same delivery price that they show online £20, in store £49.95 for my new LG fridge/freezer.
The manager was not too happy:D

They will price match to Empire Direct if you have a branch in your area. Lucky for me, there is one next door to my local Comet and 2 doors from Currys!!
