Nokia 6600 Email HELP (E Mail)

Firstly can you use Aol with the Email Client on the 6600 Phone? I have tried to set it up but its not working at all.

I have the following stored in :

OutGoing Mail Server : smtp.uk.aol.com (Same as in my outlook account)
InComing Mail Server : imap.uk.aol.com
Mailbox: imap4

I think my problem is my access point.

Could some one help me with the following in access point settings:

Data Bearer: ?
UserName:?
Password:?
Homepage:?

I would appreciate any advice.

It may be that AOL require you to be connected to their network before you can access/send your mail.

Might be worth checking with AOL, it might be possible to download the mail through a pop server and send mail through your mobile providers network.

How can I get connected to their network thought? Is that through the access point settings? I am only using the O2 wap settings...is that my problem?

Yep, if you are required to be connected to AOL to use their email facilities then there is no real way around it at least nothing that I can think of that would work on that old brick :) The only thing you could do is create an email account with O2

The 6600 does support IMAP4 on O2. You may need to contact Data Support to sort this one out. Are you PAYG or Post Pay? If post pay then go to O2's web site and downlaod the GPRS and GPRS/MMS settings for your phone and also the email settings. Looks like you're missing the APN for this. The settings are sent OTA (Over The Air). Once received, open your message and select save.

Settings

If these fail, there may be a provisioning problem at our end, contact CS who will transfer you to Data Support.

How do I go about creating an O2 email account, from the O2 Website Just? Will this work with the Email Client on my 6600?

How about a Gmail account, would that give me any more chance rather than an aol one?

Thanks

A gmail account would be alot easier to use. Gmail have a java app you can download for your emails. I use it myself, and would highly recommend it :)

Here's the app

Tried it, says the application does not work on the 6600.

Also phoned O2 and they said that Pay and Go customers cannot use the email client on the phone, not even for an O2 email.

Correct - you need a contract phone.
