What Laptop???
Hi All,
Looking to ditch one of our desktops and get a laptop. Im after a dual core machine at leaste. pref 64bit too and i will be looking for at leaste 1GB but will need to make it 2GB i think. 120GB of Hard disk space will be fine. Pref with gig ethernet and wireless N but who can be fussy? What do you recommend when it comes to brands ..... Budget £500 max :( |
Re: What Laptop???
You will deffo struggle trying to get all that for that price
By 64bit do you want a 64bit os included with it? I would reccomend www.meshcomputers.com http://www.meshcomputers.com/Default...UCT&KEY=241508 This is the cheapest i could find with 2GB RAM etc but someone may be along later with a cheaper one |

Re: What Laptop???
Cheers chaps! i did spot the Acer to be honest but im not sure in terms of the reputation. We have had a couple of tablet machines at work go wrong a few times and its very rare they come back from repair in the time they are meant to. Whats the general opinion of Acer around here?
With regards to the OS, i can put my own on so even if it didnt come with a operating system im not to fussed i just wanted 64bit for future proof! |

1. Fan died. It had to go back to the shop. 2. HDD died. Got a replacement from a local shop. The HD incident got me looking at the HD temps, and unless I apply compressed air very frequently (every couple of weeks), it will easily climb to 50 Celcius on an almost idle CPU (but streaming audio, which will keep the HD busy). Defrag or Virus Scan will push it close to 55 which is the max rated temp for your average HD. I'm not sure if this is normal for lappies, but I do wonder about the design of this one. It only seems to care about CPU temps. Then again, that laptop I linked to does look a good spec at that price. |

althought it was ordered via the business site, make sure you go right thru to the checkout to see true final price, it was £60 delivery which was a shock but as long as you look at the total delivered price and compare that with others its ok |
Re: What Laptop???
