Guys,

got a lappy here from a mate of mine that totally doesnt boot up no bios, no nothing.

its a HP DV2036ea, the laptop does power up but nothing on screen, have tried it connected to a normal crt nada there as well.

have tried to reset the cmos on there but to no avail.

any1 got any ideas with this or do you think it might be a claim with HP warranty?

Funny I had a lappie just like that, turned out the motherboard was dead.

Does it turn on and rev fans for about 2seconds then turn off and sit with just lights on?

Andrew how did you guess.... yes the toplights go on and yes the fan kicks in for under 2 secs then just goes dead.

what was your solution to the bugger... e.t. phone HP India?

Nah the laptop was not mine I was only giving him a second opinion since the pc shop he took it too first time basically wanted to shaft him for £150 for a new motherboard and we thought they may have been taking the proverbial pish.

Sadly nothing can be done apart from a whole new motherboard.

Hey, the exactly the same problem with me. Unless a master restart is done (holding the power key) after that wait for a ½ min turn on again and it loads the WinXP normally. However this problem started couple of weeks ago and sometimes doesn’t boot even 2 or 3 turn off/on are made.
Sadly the warranty expired an year ago .... :td:
Anything happening with your lappys ???... it appears mine problem will become bigger
