Retrieving data from Nokia mobile
 

This question has been asked by a friend on another forum,

Would anyone know how or where i could send my old phone to see if they could recover photos i had on it. The phone will switch on but the screen is white and been told it has a corrupt flash ic and only way to cure it is to get it re-flashed but by doing that everything would be erased. Would be much obliged if anyone had some ideas.

Any suggestions?

What model is it?

If you plug it into a PC with Nokia PC Suite on it does it detect the phone?

Apparently its a 6230i, I have asked him if he has Nokia Suite installed, not had a reply yet.

If it's a corrupt flash then I wouldn't hold out much hope of recovery as most likely the software that communicates between the phone and the PC will also be corrupt, most times it relies on the phone actually booting.

Bear in mind though it could just be a damaged screen causing the issue. In which case the phone will link to the PC ok.
