Netgear superG router

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some advice...

I am installing a Netgear router/AP to a friends Virgin Media cable box. I have set up the same router on someone elses VM box and it worked fine.

This time though there is a problem. After i configure the router (it has it;s own DHCP addy gotten from VM), i can ping any site that i need to (www.google.com for eg.), but IE just *won't* go to any site at all!

I have tried every site i can think of, but IE just doesn't seem to get a connection, even though i can ping addresses fine in a command shell.

Would this be a VM problem, a router problem or IE problem?

Has anyone heard of this before? When i visit my friend again, i plan to take an install of Firefox, just in case.

Please help!

Things to try -
Check that there isn't an invalid proxy server in the IE config.
From a command prompt try -
telnet www.bbc.co.uk 80
This will mimick a connection to the HTTP port.
Firefox would also be a good test.

Got the same problem w/ my Netgear wireless router

I've just moved house and VM supplied a new modem. The modem connects fine from my laptop, but when I plug it into the router I can't browse the web...

The router gets assigned an IP address and I can do DNS lookups and ping servers. But any http connections fail.

Any ideas? Have VM changed sumfin' ???
