Ethernet or Ethernet Crossover cable

Hi there,
Which cable do I need to connect a cable Modem to a router, just a standard Ethernet cable or a Ethernet Crossover cable?

Thanks

Yep, a standard cable will do fine.
Crossovers are often used to hook up from one computer ethernet port to another computers ethernet port.

You can get them quite cheaply here: www.cableuniverse.co.uk

straight though is best, although some new devices don't care either way.

I plugged a pc to a macbook with a straight though cable and they worked (wanted to see what 1gbit lan was like)

Either one or both of the devices was smart enough to sense the type of cable and adjust accordingly :Yikes:
