Sky Broadband Speed
Just been on the Sky website to see what speed i'd get if i had broadband from Sky. As i have a cable phone there is no point in entering my phone number. So tried to be clever and entered a neighbours phone number as i assumed this would be similar and it retuned 4Mb. However i tried a second neighbours number and it returned 1Mb.
So my question is, how can i reliably find out what speed i'd get without paying BT to reconnect my line? |
Re: Sky Broadband Speed
simple answer you cant. Even if your neighbours both had the same speeds you could not be sure you would get the same

Re: Sky Broadband Speed
I dunno if there's a small, cheap, handheld meter to test the quality of your line (attenuation & SNR, etc). Possibly return it to store afterward or eBay it.
I dunno if you could sign up for ADSL and then cancell if within 14 days if you are unhappy with the speed. Sounds like a waste though, you'd think it would be cheaper to send an engineer out for free. |

Do you know how far you are from the BT exchange?

If I call BT and tell them Im thinking of changing to BT, will they tell me what sort of connection I would be getting? Oooops, I just put in my sisters number who lives near me and the exchange details are the same and she would get upto 7mb. So could I expect this? |
