Huge problem with router :(
Basically i have a telewest cable connection to a motorolla surfboard modem, to a belkin wireless router. The router hadn't been turned off in a few weeks and today, when i tried to turn it back on, there seems to be no connectivity.
At the moment, i'v hooked the modem directly via ethernet to the PC, so there is nothing wrong with the internet connection itself. My suspicion is the modem isn't registering the correct IP address or something similar with the router, but no matter what i try i can't get it to work! The router model is F57230D-4. When i plug the ethernet cable from the modem to the router the following happens WAN light flashes, connected ligh flashes. Also in the belkin control panel it says 'not connected'. I'v tried simultaneously turning the two on and off, but i'm not having any luck. Will appreciate any feedback at ALL! |
Re: Huge problem with router :(
Hi,
Not sure about why the connection isn't there but I do know that Belkin are very good at replacing broken routers. I had the same router which failed about a year ago and I simply phoned Belkin who took details and sent a replacement router with no hastle. They offer a lifetime guarantee on all of their products. I couldn't fault their customer service.:) |
Re: Huge problem with router :(
DocDutch will kill me, but on other forums Belkin kit has a flaky reputation.
I have a WRT54GL and so far it's been better than the Belkin it replaced. |
Re: Huge problem with router :(
Check that you have cloned the MAC address of the PC that you directly connected to the modem. There is a setting on the router to automatically clone it, in the Internet WAN section.
Also try using another patch cable. |
