is it a router problem
i am using a belkin router for a desktop and a laptop the router is connected to the desktop and the laptop is via wireless.for a number of months i have had problems with speed drop on the laptop after many calls to vm they then sent a modem box to connect up.they said that this would solve the problem.for3 days no problems then back to slow speed.status connected strength excellent speed dropping from 54mbps down to 24mbps and keeps saying page cannot be displayed. is it worth moving the router into the lounge nearer the laptop or do i maby need a better router:confused: we are beginners and cant understand all the techie stuff:erm: thanks mobie

Re: is it a router problem
does the speed drop on both computers or only on the laptop? if its only on the laptop then you could have some signal interferance and changing the wifi chan will normally help..
If your having signal issues then the best thing to do with wifi routers is get a omni directional antenna from ebay and that will screw into your existing wifi aerial screw.. also wifi routers dont like any noise close to them and like to be high up.. |
Re: is it a router problem
desktop is ok its just this laptop thats goin down so much for vm saying that all we needed was a modem box:mad: we are goin to put the router in the lounge tomororow and have a play around with the channel thanks:confused:

yup.. i think Vm are right to say the net connection is allright.. its comon sense that if the wired PC is working and the wifi aint then thats where the problem is..
