BeThere Speed Problem...

I download stuff using torrents, and for the past 1 week, ive been getting disconnected. I download torrents via Utorrent and after beginning the download after about 1 mintue download speed drops and i get disconnected... this is really annoying  i phoned up and they said he does'nt know what to say it could be a problem with the thing im using to download (Utorrent).

It's probably something to do with BE's network but................
You do limit your upload speed to approx. 80% of your theoretical download speed don't you?
Try decreasing the number of connections.
Check for any upgrades to your modem/routers firmware.
Check for any upgrades to your NIC's drivers.
Check the Utorrent forum to see if anyone else is having issues.
Try another client.
I could never run Utorrent, for some reason it wanted sole rights to my HDD's and objected to any other tasks running. Never did figure it out. Just dumped Utorrent as Azeurus works just fine.

Good luck. :)

Try this:

when have uTorrent open, double click the torrent that is downloading, then change the upload rate from 0 to 2.

It does sound cynical. There is nothing illegal about Bittorrent some of the content that can be shared on it.

If you think the police would care about one person using Bittorrent a bit, well, no comment :)

The police need evidence. Using a bittorrent client (or any P2P software) does NOT mean you are automatically downloading pirated stuff.

For instance, 4od (4 on demand) on the PC uses it's own p2p client, as does Sky By Broadband (whatever they are calling it now).

While those aren't bittorrent clients, there are many places you get legal torrents.

Please don't automatically assume people download pirate stuff.

Stuart, I think the OP just informed us that he does download pirate stuff - re the "i download for evaluation"; is that like shoplifting stuff to see if you like the look of it, then going back to the shop and buying it? :D And what happens if he doesn't like it - he doesn't buy the original, but he has still downloaded copyrighted material. ;)

Irrelevant, you aren't supposed to make copies of them full stop, whether you own the original or not ;)
