how can I keep track of how much I download
:Yikes: I know download amount is unlimited on VM - but I'm sure I'll get warned if I go over the top - problem is my sons are home from uni and my modem flashes away like mad seemingly all day and night - is there any software that could keep a track of how much traffic is going through my cable modem and how much each IP address on a home network is downloading?

Get a router that supports DD-WRT (www.dd-wrt.com)
Add on: http://www.hetos.de/bwlog.html Keeps track perfectly. If you need any help getting the BWlog addon to work, just PM me. The advantage of this is that you can keep track of all machines on your network. |
Re: how can I keep track of how much I download
DUmeter will do the job for a single computer connected dorectly to the modem but for a network it's useless
As VM make absolutely no effort to help users monitor the amount they download and seem to be only interested in limiting users speed during peak hours I really wouldn't worry about it at all. |

NetMeter is a free utility that takes up hardly any memory and gives you all the info you need on download bandwidth used.
It's just been upgraded as well to the latest version.... http://www.metal-machine.de/readerror/ |
