Suitable Router
 
My daughter has just bought a Dell laptop, please help me find a router.
Looked at these in the sticky recomend list. which is best?

Are you on cable or ADSL (telephone line) broadband?
Linksys and Netgear are the 2 main brands to look for when you buy in my opinion. Then it's down to do you need wireless or not?

These two seem ok, is the speedbooster model worth the extra price?

Speedbooster will tend to only give good results if you have a Linksys Speedbooster enabled wirleess adaptor in the PC / laptop. The standard Dell won't have that. Thus the WRT54G should do you fine.

However do look at your house before committing. How far is the router site from the laptop. Are there lots of walls / floors in the way? Wireless can degrade with obstructions and distance. You need to understand if you can get good reception.
