Re: connecting modem to xbox 360 problems
How do you normally connect the modem to the PC? USB or ethernet?
What are the 360's network settings? (in the System Blade). Everything should be on automatic... IP address & DNS. When you turn the modem off, how long do you leave it off for? Have you tried cloning the PC's MAC address onto the 360? Is your 360 modded in any way (e.g. modified DVD drive firmware to enable playing "backups") - if so, then MS have probably banned your machine from Xbox Live. |
Re: connecting modem to xbox 360 problems
its connected by usb to the pc, the xbox settings are all automatic, i dont know what a mac address is and no its not modded.
iv done it eventually by sharing the computers internet at the moment but id still rather have it connected to the modem than the pc because it slows the internet down quite a bit when im using xbox live. |
Re: connecting modem to xbox 360 problems
It should've just been a case of turn off & on again.
Hmm. As you use USB for the PC, it may be that the modem isn't releasing the IP properly, or perhaps even the ethernet port doesn't work? Swapping from USB to ethernet should be the same as swapping devices: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...b.html#usbswap Have a read of this: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/15...onnection.html Have you considered getting a router? |
Re: connecting modem to xbox 360 problems
it sound like you have pluged both the USB2 cable into your PC and the RJ45 cable into your 360 at the same time ,yes?.
you cant have both usb&rj45 pluged into the VM modem at the same time as its not a router just a broadband modem. VM-BB(NTL250)-USB<===>PC-USB VM-BB(NTL250)-RJ45<===>360-network-card1 |
