Smart card probs??

Ever since the other day and my box updated to show the new virgin media set up i get an error message every time i switch channel. It tells me that my smartcard isnt inserted properly, what do i do?
And when I switch the box on for the first time each day the message appears every 30 seconds or so and i have to turn the box off completely. But i still get the message every time i switch channels, so annoying! :mad:Anyone resolved this problem?

Sounds like the card reader has failed .Is there any mention of it in the error logs ? But does sound like you will need a tech :)

well if it has only happened since the update then re-update it. unplug your box, press and hold <,^ and> plug back in wait til it says ld:14 or something similar and let go of the buttons and it will re-update then see if that will sort it

turn off your box at mains, remove card, turn back on, when it has loaded go to a subscribed channel and when it asks for your smart card put it back in and then when/if it loads the channel see if the message appears again when you change channel and if it does ring 151 and see if they can do anything but judging by it i think you will need a tech

See this page for information about the new smartcards http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html...ard/index.html. The Troubleshooting link on the left may help.

If you still can't get the new card to work, give the Virgin faults team a call.

ps. Welcome to the forum!

Re: Smart card probs??

Try giving the card a wipe, sometimes the reader gets dust on it. The new card is to remove false boxes from VM network henry4hal
