i am using Vergin media internet with ntl 250 modem and i bought net laptop so i need one wireless router which can conect with my modem and i can use wireless internet.which wireless router have best feautre and best speed in normal price???????...Plz Saguest mee..:) .....:tu:

hi there,i asked same question not long ago

in the end i bought a netgear rangemax next wireless router,model number WNR834B

it was a litle pricey but the range and signal i get is the best ive experianced.for example now, im sat about 30 metres or so away from my router and im getting 6772kbps download speed and 365kbps upload speed

check out this one. recently bought it and signal is pretty good. Its up in the loft and signal strength is still very good downstairs in the living room.
This website is selling it cheaper than anyone. Its a tad bit fiddly at first though. bt u soon get used to it.

I bought a Netgear WGR614 off Ebay for just £16 new (Refurbished by NetGear).
;)
It works well with my Telewest (Virgin) cable modem and new Dell Inspiron laptop.

Is anyone successfully running a NETGEAR RangeMax Next Wireless Router (Gigabit Edition WNR854T) between their NTL cable modem and a Vista PC/Laptop?

no not yet, but 11n MiMo is very new for most people so your a first and can give us a real life rundown of its performance.

whats at the other end? a matching PCI or cardbus 11n and whats the real data rate you have had so far?.

the namings a tricky one 'Gigabit Edition' as it implys its got wireless gigabit throughput for consumer markets, as in the commercial sector wireless WiMax such as this http://www.onfiber.com/press/index.c...0&contentID=10

however the gigabit part in your router is infact hardwire rj45

thats fine but people need to read these things and understand their getting a gigabit RJ45 not wireless......

still if the unit gets above 100Mbit real wireless speed when connected with other 11n only kit then thats a good thing.

Belkin have a lifetime warranty, have it years and it breaks down just call them and they will replace it.

Yeah, thanks, I know the gigbit refers to wired and draft-n refers to wireless.

As it happens I was in need of a whole new setup. My PC had been limping aong for a couple of years following a motherboard replacement, (installed new motherboard but not exactly the same, so compatibility issues ever since, odd things happening, boot issues etc and had no legal means of reinstalling windows. Yada, yada, yada)
Also scanner died, printer died... :(

Decided to get with the times and install a wired network in the house with the aim of having a Digital Home- well, eventually!
So, Gigabit ethernet the way forward, especially as I have media streaming in mind.
Wireless wise 'n' is the future and Draft-N the current solution.
Hence the Netgear WNR854T.

Bought an Asus F3SV laptop which is specified as Gigabit LAN and draft-n capable. It arrived yesterday and so I set about unpacking it all and plugging it in...

With the router upstairs in the front of the house (1920's brick construction) and me downstairs in the extension at the back of the house I am getting 144 Mbps according to the laptop Network thingy in Control Panel. I'm sure I'll get a more accurate measurement using another tool- any suggestions for a good one? This is all new to me! (So I don't think I'm dong too bad...)
Anyway, it's pretty speedy in downloading from the internet.

Got the HP printer working too!
Right, now to plug the Maxtor NAS into the router and see if I can get that working!:D
