4mb Capped to 2mb ... ?

My 4mb service has been capped at 2mb for quite a few hours now.

at first i thought just network trouble, but then realised im getting exactly half of 4mb, no more, no less.

From downloading something from newsgroups im getting a constant speed of 240KB/s, exactly half of my top speed of 480KB/s.

Anyone know why this is like this ? anoyone else got thier service going at hlaf the normal speed ?

^^ log in there, and go to operation config and post ur stats... it will be clear if ur on 2mb/4mb

And Welcome to CF;)

http://root:root@192.168.100.1/ << will save u from typing in the username and password, which are both "root" This is not an attempt to trick u lol...

Check with VM, call faults first, as they are not capping 4Mb to 2Mb

The router config does indeed show 4mb.

Code:

Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 4096000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 400000

I'm not too concerned at the moment that its going slow, if its not back to normal by tomorrow, ill give them a call.

actually, yes they are. it's been happening to me for quite a while now, i was just hoping it would go away, however it is still happening. i'm on 4mb and if i download a large file after 30-45 minutes my speed is capped at half sometimes it comes back after a few hours other times i have to wait until the next day.

Re: 4mb Capped to 2mb ... ?

Just like to add that my 2mb package has been capped to 1mb for just over a week now from about 5pm each evening to early next morning. After speaking to Cust Services in India a few times, an engineer has been sent round who confirmed that the problem was their end and although traffic shaping is supposed to be on 10 mb only, it is currently affecting all broadband levels. They are trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible. This is my first post, as I've been visiting these forums daily for some time now and it's the only way to get any info. as to what's going on as most problems never reach the service status pages. Let's hope it's not too long before normal service returns as I've had NTL broadband and phone for many troublefree years now.

I'm on 2MB and same sh*t happens to me. They keep capping my speed in half in the evenings. Very frustrating...

My 2mb has been working at around 2meg ever since since i've had it. Which is about a year. Antime of day or night. Mind you i don't do a lot of heavy downloads. Just a occasional one.:)

My speed is low too. I'm on 4MB and the CF speedtest shows speeds ranging from 1.09Mbps - 1.9Mbps :td:

Here we go then. the throttling in all areas on all speeds on all customers has begun :Yikes:

My 10mb connection has just gone from 1.22mbs to 609kbs, so that's the Ipswich area done.

I had a suspicion this would happen. Lets hope it's only temporary.

Not great, considering it's the morning and there are very few people online.
