Hearing ADSL modem noise (Tiscali)

Hi everyone... I've got a really strange problem with my Internet connection and phone line and Tiscali are less than useless with their Indian support centres, so I thought I'd try here. I've got Tiscali Talk as well as their Internet package, so I pay line rental to Tiscali not BT.

When I'm on the phone and Internet at the same time, I can hear my ADSL modem in the background; it's as though the filters aren't there. The person that I'm phoning can't hear it though.

I've tried all of the following :

*Bought new filters
*Swapped a filter with a friend for one that I know works (and mine worked for him)
*Tried a different modem
*Tried a different phone
*Unplugged all extensions + phones round the house
*Tried it directly to the master socket
*Taken the cover off the master socket to try the hidden socket
*Replaced the master socket (not sure I should have done this?)
*Replaced the phone junction box outside the house that the main line comes into (again, not sure I should have done this).

All without success, the bloody modem noise is STILL there. Any ideas?

Hmm thats a real odd one.

the filters should take out the ADSL noise assuming you've connected them up correctly so that the phone is on the filtered side (and by the sound of things you've already got that covered)

Wander if theres a fault on the DSLAM/Line somewhere, sounds like your going to have to report a fault although i'm not sure if you'd need to take it to your ISP as a broadband fault or your Telecoms provider as a line fault :erm:

Tell them that you've already tried new filters.etc

Don't tell them about the New master socket/junction box as your not really supposed to do that yourself.
