Slow speed & curious routing
My transfer rates are absolutely shocking, has been getting more and more so over the last week or two.
latest speedtest gives (for my 10Mb service): https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2007/04/53.png Am not really too fussed about an upgrade to 20Mb, I just want something that resembles my original 10. Curiously though, I have something in a trace route I have conducted which baffles me a bit; hopefully someone here a bit more knowledgable here can shed some light on it. The following trace is to a game/voice server based in Redbus data centre, London docklands. Code:
Tracing route to kurak.pulsegaming.com [217.64.127.41] |
Re: Slow speed & curious routing
i'd say no, otherwise you'd see a ubr host before hop 4. it's more likely work has been done and they've changed IP allocations and are using an old customer range for routers etc and just not updated the DNS to reflect the changes

Re: Slow speed & curious routing
That seems a very reasonable explanation, thanks :)
Hope the mess clears up soon though. |

Re: Slow speed & curious routing
If you telnet to the strange IP you can see that it is a core device in Leciester (and that they havn't applied a correct port 23 access control list!!) :
C:\>telnet 82.3.32.237 Trying 82.3.32.237... open +---------------------------------------------------------------+ |Warning; unauthorised use of this system may lead | |to criminal prosecution. | |If you are not an authorised user, disconnect immediately. | |By accessing and using this system you consent to such | |monitoring for law enforcement and other purposes. | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ leic-t3core-1a (ttyp0) login: ^CClient aborted login Connection to host lost. Re: Slow speed & curious routing
