Linksys BEFSR41 router config

Etherfast Wired cable/dsl router

This is my first router setup which I have just now got working
Well .............anyway both pc's are on the net o'k for the moment!

But I ddn't configure any settings because I didn't receive any info from VM as to whether I'm on dynamic or static ip
The selector was on choose ip automatically so I left eveything else as it was and saved.

How do I find out which without ringing them tomorrow and if I'm on static how do I find the settings to enter please?

You won't be on static.

Leave the router set to "Obtain IP automatically" (dynamic) & you'll be fine.

If you havent done so already, you can sort out any preferences and settings by pointing your Internet browser to: 192.168.1.1

Thanks Matt that makes it simple!

Yes thankyou I went into that address they are the settings I was asking about - mostly pretty meaningless to me!

Re: Linksys BEFSR41 router config

Beacause of sudden drastic slowdowns to less than dial up speed I've had to turn modem and router off and reset up twice in the last 4 days

any ideas?

Inbetween those two instances working fine!

*EDIT 1
Its not the router I just bypassed it and connected direct through the modem and its just as slow.
Hope this isn't going to be ongoing typical experience of VM broadband - no outages reported for my area on their update line

They're too busy on the phone right now to get through on 151

*EDIT 2* finally got through they ran a check and connection to modem with and without pc connected is 60% so they'll check local network or send engineeer out if needed.
